Adding CoD4 Maps to your Server. Download the map you would like. The map will come in a zip with two.ff files in it. Open your RCD or FTP Program and log into your server. Make a new folder called 'usermaps' inside of your directory. Do not put into 'main' folder, put it beside the 'main' folder. 1.Create a folder named 'usermaps' in the root directory of cod4 server along with 'main' folder (if it's not there) 2. Upload map files to that folder Example: usermaps/mpnuketown Use ftp tools like filezilla or winscp for uploading larger files greater than 10 Mb 3. Add the map name to svmapRotation list of respected mod's server.cfg.

Knowledgebase Fast Download/RedirectFirst, before you can set this up, you need to have a web site with enough space that you can use to store your server's custom files. Second, you will need to be familiar with how to login to and manage your web site's folders and files through FTP. Follow the steps below to set it up:1.
Your public HTML directory will normally be visible as soon as you login to FTP as publichtml, www, or something similar.Check with your web site's technical support if you are not sure.Create a folder in your web site's public HTML folder named “cod4” (or whatever else you prefer to call it) that you will use to store all of your custom game files. If you have a website with us then you would be creating the folder like so: /publichtml/cod4.2. Once you have your base redirect folder setup you will want to copy the.ff and.iwd of your server's Mods and usermaps folders into it with the same directory structure. For isntance, if you have a file called mpsubway.iwd in the /usermaps/mpsubway folder on your game server then you will want to upload it to the /wwwroot/cod4/usermaps/mpsubway folder on your redirect server.3. Now that you have all of your files copied over it is now time to activate the redirect function on your game server. To do this, edit the following lines in your server.cfg file, or add them if they are not there, to look like this:set svallowdownload '1'seta svwwwDownload '1'seta svwwwBaseURL 'svwwwDlDisconnected '0'4. Be sure to replace the your.website.com in the example with your own web site's URL. Now save the file and restart your server to start running with your newly configured redirect server. This can be done the same way setting up l4d, l4d2 and RO servers. Was this answer helpful?
Knowledgebase COD4 Setting up custom maps + Redirect1. Create a new folder in the COD4 'mods' folder(next to 'ModWarfare'). You can call it what you like.
For illustrationpurposes, I will call mine 'awe4'. The entire path should look somethinglike this:C:Program FilesActivisionCall of Duty 4 - Modern Warfaremodsawe4Thisis your fsgame mods/folder. Remember to keep everything in lower case,as it avoids several quirks about the root path to fsgame. So, in your command line you would add something like this:+set fsgame mods/awe4A forward slash and lower-case 'm' in mods.
So the entire command line would look something like this:'C:ProgramFilesActivisionCall of Duty 4 - Modern Warfareiw3mp.exe' +setdedicated 2 +set fsgame mods/awe4 +exec server.cfg +maprotate2.On your redirect space, create a root folder that you will use for allyour servers. I will call mine 'cod4'. Inside this folder, create afolder called 'mods' (all lower case). Inside that create another foldernamed after your fsgame folder. I will call mine 'awe4'.3. On your server, into the 'awe4' folder place your mod IWD. Mine is called 'zawe4.iwd'.
Also place in there mod.ff.4. Copy those files from your server to your redirect space - i.e. Zawe4.iwd and mod.ff.In your server config file, enter your redirect details. They are exactly the same as vCOD/UO/COD2.Example:set svallowdownload '1'set svwwwDownload 1set svwwwbaseURL 'svwwwdldisconnected '0'Onprevious versions of COD the disconnected setting could be a 1 but fornow until IW puts out a fix for it leave this setting at 0.Noticethat you quote only up to the root of where you store your downloadfiles. As in previous COD titles, you dont have to quote the wholedestination root directory url - the game will find mods/awe4 for you. That should cover the basics on how to set up a mods. Now onto how to set up the custom maps.Custom map setup information:Whenyou download a custom map from it's source you should find at least 3files.
The mpmapname.ff, mpmapnameload.ff and mpmapname.iwd. The mainmap file is the mpmapname.ff file.To run the custom maps fromyour server you need to make a new folder called 'usermaps'. Thisfolder is placed in your root directory where you have your gameinstalled right next to the other folders such as Docs, main, miles andso on. It should look something like this:C:Program FilesActivisionCall of Duty 4 - Modern WarfareusermapsInsidethe usermaps folder each map should have it's own folder that's titledthe name of the map. So it should look something like this:C:Program FilesActivisionCall of Duty 4 - Modern WarfareusermapsmpmapnameYou then place the two ff files into this folder so the mpmapname.ff and the mpmapnameload.ff both go into this folder.Thempmapname.iwd goes into your fsgame mod folder along with the filesfrom your mod so it goes along side of the mod.ff file, the cfg's andmod.iwd. At this point I will also add that you can combine your mapiwd's into one iwd if you so wish. This keeps the number of downloads toyour clients to a lower number.Redirect setup for custom mapsThenext thing to do is to create a new folder at your website where youare hosting your files.
In your redirect directory you should alreadyhave a root folder with your fsgame folder inside it and your mod filesinside that. In our case our root folder is called cod4. Inside that wehave our mod folder called awe4. Along side of the mod folder you needto create a new folder called usermaps. You place a copy of your custommap folder containing the ff files inside this usermaps folder just likeyou did on your server.
Then the mapname.iwd goes in your mod folder orin our case the Awe4 folder. You should now have a root folderat your download site with two folders inside it. One is your mod orfsgame folder with your mod files and map.iwd's and the other is yourusermaps folder with the individual map folders inside it and inside themap folders the two ff files.Note that if you are gettingerrors from a new map that the map's iwd and mpmapnameload.ff are notalways needed to run the map in all cases. Try starting the server upwith only the mpmapname.ff file and let the mapmaker know that there isa potential issue.Lastly you need to update your map rotation to run the new maps. Was this answer helpful?
